Release! She Past Away - 'Sonbahar' (Antipole/Paris Alexander Remix)
Darkwave/Post-punk stalwarts She Past Away are celebrating their 10 years of existence with the release of the star-studded remix album titled ‘X’. An impressive cast of artists from the global post-punk/darkwave scene have gathered in this celebration to give their interpretation of a track from SPA’s solid 3 LP catalogue. Blue Door Music Productions were happy to be a part of the festivities through the production of the Antipole/Paris Alexander remix of ‘Sonbahar’ from the ‘Disko Anksiyete‘ LP.

Firstly, this combination of She Past Away and Antipole from a sound perspective fits like a glove and this is aptly demonstrated in this remix. Karl Morten Dahl’s added mid-tone guitar work serves as a melodic metronome and sonic conductor in much the same vein as Antipole, providing a beautiful contrast to Volkan Caner’s more baritone style playing.
But this remix really shines through with the amazing production elements added by Blue Door studio wizard Paris Alexander. The lush synth arrangements and groove-laden beat allow this track to easily gain dance-floor accreditation whilst giving it a fullness that facilitates a ‘lost-in-the-music’ dance-floor experience.
With the track being remixed and produced at Blue Door Music Productions, this also saw the bonus of Blue Door co-producer/vocalist Eirene being able to add her celestial siren-esque backing vocals to the track. Eirene’s vocals weave in and out to colour the more expressive moments of ‘Sonbahar’ from mournful calling to high, operatic waves of emotion.
Blue Door Music Productions have excelled here adding She Past Away to the formidable list of quality artists they have already remixed. Whereas She Past Away’s original version held a more minimalist vibe, the Antipole/Paris Alexander version stays true to this but adds a richness and colour in the production that allows it to be interpreted for the summer dancefloor.
But if the dance-floor isn’t you? Well put on a pair of cans, close your eyes and let the lush landscapes of Antipole, Paris Alexander and She Past Away take you on a journey.

A DAY IN THE LIFE!
A ‘not so normal’ day in the life for influential London cellist Denis Vigay when he spent a day recording with The Beatles at Abbey Road Studios for their epic track, ‘A Day in the Life’. A musical inspiration for Blue Door Music Productions, today we remember our producer Paris Alexander’s grandfather Denis Vigay whose birthday would have been today.
Denis was a student of Cedric Sharpe and eventually served as Principal Cellist with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Symphony and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. He also held a long term teaching position on faculty at the London's Royal Academy of Music and played on a variety of major British and American movie soundtracks.
The picture below shows Denis wearing novelty sunglasses that were given to the orchestra by The Beatles themselves. The idea was to loosen them up and spur them on for the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967) recording sessions and in particular, that infamous orchestral crescendo on ‘A Day in the Life’.
